Acta Scientiae Anatomica is the Official Journal of the Anatomy Society of the Rio de Janeiro State. Our goal is to provide quality research and expand the medium of communication of Morphology and its branches. Acta Scientiae Anatomica welcomes human anatomy, gross anatomy, clinical anatomy, animal anatomy, histology, embryology and anatomical education manuscripts. We further welcome papers that embraces clinical and surgical aspects and their relation to Morphology. This journal publishes original and review articles, case reports, clinical images and letters to the editors.
Acta Scientiae Anatomica publishes one volume per year with four issues every three months (trimestral publication).

Journal Ethics
Acta Scientiae Anatomica follows ethical principles laid down by scholarly bodies such as COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors). All manuscripts based on research involving human participants or using human blood, tissues and other samples as also medical records need to be submitted along with a clearance certificate from the Institutional Ethics Committee. For Clinical Images and case reports duly signed Patient Consent Form needs to be submitted along with the manuscript. Studies involving animals need to be submitted with a clearance certificate from the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee. Studies conducted in cadaveric sample are exempt of Institutional Ethics Committee approval, although the study should state that the manuscript complies with the Declaration of Helsinki.
