The mandible condyles are often target to anatomical variations. However, there are a great number of causes, such as age, gender, ethnicity, facial type, occlusal force, functional load, and malocclusion. Furthermore, they may present symptoms or not, and they can be even caused by intraarticular fractures, due to bone remodeling.
