Epidemiological profile of hospitalizations for endometriosis in northeast Brazil

INTRODUCTION: Endometriosis is a pathology characterized by the relocation of endometrium tissue outside the uterine cavity, this histological and antomical alteration can bring important complications to the woman’s health. The clinical demonstrations are variable, when symptomatic this chanding impact significantly the woman ‘s quality of life, being needed the health team performance to provide assistance and reverse the clinical condition. OBJECTIVE: Identify the epidemiological profile of endometriosis hospitalizations in Northeastern Brazil. METHOLODOLOGY: This is a cross-sectional and quantitative study, secondary data were obtained through the SUS information Department (DATASUS) and processed by the Hostipal information System (SIH) from april 2015 to 2020, the variables analyzed were: The state, age group, race, servisse agreement and mortality. The verified data were submitted to descriptive statistics, in order to sumarize the sample and assist in the analysis. RESULTS: In the period from 2015 to 2020, the Northeast region had a total of 26,562 endometiosis hospitalizations with the state of Bahia, Ceará and Pernambuco having the highest percentages, portraying 19.96% (n=5303), 19,05% (n=5062) and 18.10% (n=4808). Also, the age range of woman in their 40s is the predominant presenting 31.77% (n=8439) of the admissions, as for race, large part of the brown color, 53,17% (n=8439) about the amunt of death, the region presented a mortality rate of 2.02% (n=537). Finally, as far as the care insurance is concerned, mosto of them didn’t get any explanation, representing 88.46% (n=23499) of cases. CONCLUSION: According to the variables presented, it is noted that the epidemological profile of these individuals is characterized by being women in na age range of 40s, brown color and distributed by the state of Bahia, Ceará and Pernambuco. So it’s up to the need for studies and politics to be made up to the understand of pathology and factors that envolve the manifestation in this profile. Besides, you have to alert the healh team about the need to lower the subnotifications, fator presente in a few variations of the study.
