Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Spina bifida is na anatomic congenital alteration, in this frame there is a vertebral arcle fail in it fusion, mostly in the lombar region. This way, the anatomical manifestance have variable graus wich can be hidden or opened, associated to meningocele, meninges exposition, or meningomiocele, meninges protusions and others neural elements. AIM To identify Northeast’s epidemiological profile internations associated to spina bifida. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This is a corss-sectional, quantitaitive study, secondary data were captures through the SUS Computer Departmente (DATASUS) and processeced by the Hospital Information System (SIH) from April 2015 to 2020, the variables analyzed were: sex, color, year of hospitalization, age group and mortatility. The verified data were submmited to descriptive statistics, with the purpose of summarizing the sample and assisting in the analysis. RESULTS: In the period from 2015 to 2020, the Northeast region had a total of 2.370 hospitalizations of bifida spine’s pacients, with the years 2015, 2016 e 2017 having the highest percentages of cases, presenting 24.47% (n= 580), 22.74% (n=539) and 18.98% (n=450) respectively, thus showing a decrease curve in hospitalizations. Regarding the mortality rate, the Northeast showed 2.03% (n=48), with the year 2016 having the most deaths, presenting 15 (0.63%). With regard to sex, the female represented 1198 (50.55%) and the male 1172 (49.45%), and finally regard the race, most did not manifest this information, representing 74,93% (n=1776) followed by brown individuals with 23.500% (n=557). Given the age group variable, indivduals younger tha one year are the most hospitalized, 59, 57% (n=1412), as it a congenital anatomical pathology. CONCLUSION: Bifida spine is an anatomical alteration that requires assistence. In the Northeast, hospitalizaations associeted to this condition are prevalent in individuals younger than one year, with greater manifastiation on fermales and browns. In this way, is necessary to identify the factors that are associates to this condition, for preventive and comprehensive care since prenatal care, beacause although the numbers have decrased over the years, thisre is still a need to intensify measures to combat this pathology.
