The opening words of this first issue of Acta Scientiae Anatomica (ASA) - the Official Journal of the Anatomy Society of the Rio de Janeiro State - are a tribute to the philosopher Karl Popper, one of the most fruitful thinkers of our time. He, with a brilliant affirmation between many of his own, puts us to face the truest reality of "being or not being", as scientific researchers “only participate in the game of science. They who publishes scientific articles… They have to publish. That is the only passport that is able to spread and globalize their knowledge among their peers..."
